Personal Highlights

My name is Alina Poust. I am currently a Junior at Palmyra Area Senior High School in Palmyra, Pennsylvania. Before I began diving, I was a gymnast for 7 years and reached level 7. I began diving my freshman year of high school and very quickly discovered a love for the sport, so I decided to put in my full commitment and quit gymnastics. I have been the Varsity Diving Captain ever since my freshman year, and my sophomore year I was a Mid Penn Championship Qualifier and placed 11th in the meet.

The head coaches of the school's swimming and diving team are Cynthia Lyons and Kris Keck. Since Palmyra does not have diving boards in the facility I train at Milton Hershey School in Hershey, Pennsylvania and am coached by the Hershey High School and Hershey Diving Club coach John Ricci. On top of practices at Milton Hershey, twice a week I travel to Northeastern High School to train with Rusty McCollum, and on Fridays I go to West Chester to practice 3 meter. In addition to winter training, I also practice with John and his son Jonas Ricci in the summertime.

I strongly enjoy school and it has always been a very important aspect to me. Currently I hold a 3.679 GPA and have been an Honor Roll Member ever since my freshman year. I have also been doing track and field for my school since freshman year. In addition to school, being involved in my community is very important to me. I am a member of my school's Family and Consumer Science Club, Mini-Thon Committee, Paws for a Cause, and Relay for Life Association.

Being a diver at the collegiate level has always been a dream for me, and with now being a junior I am ready to take full action to get there. I take pride in knowing I have been a leader ever since my freshman year due to being the varsity diving captain and would love to have the chance to be able to perform at the collegiate level while bonding and working together with future teammates, as well as bettering myself as a diver and an all-around person.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.
Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.
Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I consider myself to be very involved in my community. I am a member of the Mini-thon Committee (Associated with The Four Diamonds Fund and “Thon” event) at my school as well as the Relay for Life Association and Paws for a Cause (our school’s team for the Relay for Life Event to help raise funds and walk in it). I am also a member of the Family and Consumer Science Club at my school. These efforts all are important to me because I am making a difference in the community such as fundraising, showing awareness, and trying to make a good long lasting impact in the community and help out multiple causes and funds in whatever ways I can. Overall, it truly makes me feel like a better person to know even the smallest efforts I do such as designing posters for our town’s parade float is making someone’s day brighter and going towards a great cause.
