I want to be recruited because I would like to push myself academically and athletically to excel at the college level. I have always pushed past limits to reach new goals. I know I am ready to contribute and set records.
Being involved in Girl Scouts and Sports for most of my life, has taught me to lead when there was a need for leadership. For example, during Girl Scout events, I often would begin the activities when the appointed leader was occupied. In sports I recently helped a new frosh player with her left handed layup techniques. I noticed she was struggling and I too struggled with the same skill. I was able to share my challenges with her and explained how I conquered left handed layups. It gives me a sense of pride to know that she is a stronger player and is making her team stronger.
As a student-athlete I maintain my GPA at a 3.7 to be eligible to play sports. I believe that it is as important to be your best Academically as Athletically. I make sure I receive help when needed on assignments. I also try to take advantage of extra credit opportunities when they come up. In recent past I have used an outside trainer to work on my techniques. Also, during the summer I have stayed an additional hour after practice to work on skills that needed improvements.
I am part of a family who believes in God that has given use the ability to help others. I participate in community church events and outside events. I help out at the day care at church on Thursdays. Through Girl Scouts, we would visit an assigned senior living community and serve food and socialize with the residents during the Holidays. I am grateful to have my family that supports me and spends time together during the holidays . Knowing that I have made a little difference in my community, they have became part of my extended family.
