Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

During my high school years, I have tried to be a well-rounded student who is responsible, resilient, and resourceful.

I am the Captain of my school’s wrestling team. I have been wrestling since 2011 and have found that, although it is a team sport, you have a personal responsibility for your weight class. You also develop discipline, athletic skills, and mental toughness. As the Captain, I am responsible for leading the team during practice and pre-match warm-ups, pushing myself and others to our full potential, assist other wrestlers with perfecting moves, and representing the team during a coin toss.

Also, I am a Captain (O-3) in the Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AFJROTC) program at my school. I have also been a Physical Trainer Leader (for the past two summers), and a Flight Commander (for the past three years). By participating, I have developed my communications skills, leadership skills, confidence, physical fitness, and knowledge of military customs. As a Flight Commander, I mentor 9th and 10th-grade cadets. They also look to me for guidance and assistance on uniform, marching cadence, and any other advice needed. I have taken the lead at my school with helping with the recycling program, assisting visitors during school events, and being a member of the Kitty Hawk Air Society, and Cyber Defense Competition.

Not only have I made an impact with other students within my school and my community but hopefully, will do the same within the U.S. Air Force and our great nation. All these experiences and opportunities have helped me learn the values of teamwork, competition, individual and group responsibility, diversity, physical strength and endurance, and a sense of culture and community. They have helped fuel my passion for being in an environment that offers those same values in college.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.
