Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Being a college athlete would be very helpful to maintain a healthy lifestyle while in college, and forming bonds with other girls on the team would be great to have all throughout college.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

During my spring Novice season I was voted team captain by my teammates, I made sure to always build each and every one of them up and encourage them to view any race, erg score, or situation they faced in a positive light.
While preparing to go out on the water for a race I would do my best to lift everyone up and help everyone be confident in their own abilities and the boat's ability as a whole, also after the race whether we placed first or last or somewhere in between I would encourage my boat to say good race to the other clubs. If my boat didn't place too well I tried to ensure the girls knew, that race was that race, and there were many other races in the future; if you pushed yourself as hard as you possibly could you will be content.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

As a student athlete, I try to have a balanced diet, I eat foods to fuel my body before races and foods to help my body recover after, and I try to avoid foods that may negatively effect my performance. I stay away from activities detrimental to my health and performance. During breaks in between rowing seasons I make sure to keep my fitness up, usually doing endurance workouts, and I make sure to continue fueling my body in a healthy way. During winter season, where practice is only four days a week rather than six, I make sure to workout on most off days.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I volunteered at four summer learn-to-row camps, this is important to me because the camp helped me find a sport I love and an environment I feel comfortable and confident in. I hope I can help other kids find something they love too.
