Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I am going into my 4th year of wrestling. I have only wrestled 2 full seasons. My junior year I was ranked top 40 in California unfortunately I suffered a hyper extended elbow which ended my Junior season first tournament out.
Education is a priority for my family and I. I want to continue my education and wrestle. My brother started wrestling in High School also and my parents told me I needed to play a sport so I followed in his foot steps. Since then wrestling has been a huge part of our lives as both my parents also found and love the sport. My older brother now wrestles in college at the NCAA level and I am going to continue down that path. I feel since I have only a small amount of time in the sport I have a lot of potential to excel with the right program as I am very competitive. I am a grinder and will be the hardest working guy on the mat. Academics and Athletics go hand and hand for me and I want to be successful in both.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I lead by example plain and simple. I have been Team Captain all 4 years in high school. I lead by first off being the hardest working person in the room and staying positive. I feel if you are working the hardest at something and being positive regardless of how hard it is people notice this and often times will gravitate in that direction. I also like to support my team members in a positive way. If they are having a bad day I will often times talk with that person to see if there is something going on in there life that might be effecting their attitude and try to talk through it and turn them around.

Character is defined by what you do when no one is looking. I am proud to say I am drug and alcohol free. I don't cave to pier pressure. I have had a lot of friends that have quit sports and go down wrong paths and they always come back to me and say they appreciate and respect that I am continuing my path. Over the summer I went back to where I started wrestling (small club) and spent some time helping and teaching youth kids. My parents have told me that it is important to always give back where I can. I got a lot of enjoyment doing that.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I pursue healthy athletic performance by first off staying ahead of my academics. By staying ahead and completing your academics on time whether it be homework, special assignment or studying for a test this keeps your head in a good place. Having not to worry about being behind in school works keeps your mind healthy and enables you to focus on athletics or other social environments. I am also proud to say that I have never had alcohol or drugs. I believe in working out and staying healthy physically and mentally.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I have been involved in a couple of things where I have given back to the community.
1. I like to give time to my first wrestling club by going back and working with the youth groups. Not only do I work with them on wrestling but we also talk about life and how to be successful. I share some of my challenges and how I got through them. I talk with them about staying on a positive path and if you work hard you can do anything. Because I was in their shoes at one point they can relate to me and we have good conversations. If one kid stays on the positive path because of my conversation it is a win win.
2. My family and I have also participated in Beach Clean ups with the Surfrider Foundation. I live in a beach community and it is important to keep it clean so generations can enjoy it.
