Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

You’re taught discipline while playing college sports, and this will prepare me for the real world. I believe that having a disciplined schedule in a collegiate sports program will assist me in managing responsibility in life after college. I view athletics as a job that I love. I am excited about what I can learn at the collegiate softball level, and I will continue to work hard to achieve and exceed my personal goals and those of my team. Travel and High school fast pitch have prepared me for the next chapter in my life, and earning the opportunity to continue to play the game I love would be a great experience, and a defining moment during my college years.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

As an athlete, I have always played for the love of the game, which keeps the excitement alive. There is nothing like winning at something you have worked hard at it. I tend to take it personal when people don't work hard in school or on the field. If I think that someone is distracted or not focused in a game, it is my job to boost their morale or go out of my way to make them smile. Its impossible to win a game by yourself so its important to motivate and teach others who don't believe in themselves. Last year, we had 2 freshman who had only played few games in the beginning of the season, and were nervous to mess up. I was the one who took them under my wing (as a sophomore) and made them feel like part of the team. Both players were assets towards the end of the season when they had increased playing time. I also feel that I am a good role model for team mates who may struggle with school work. I spend a lot of time on the bus and before and after games helping them with homework.
I also am the person who will myself as someone who you can come up to if you need help for anything. Being a leader outside of the game helps others just as much as it does during a game. I also value sportsmanship over everything. I believe this is a key idea when it comes to being a leader. Being able to help other players on different teams can bring out a true athlete.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

My healthy athletic performance is both mental and physical. Mentally, having a positive mindset 24/7, on and off the field, during practices and workouts, keeps me healthy while playing. Learning not to focus on what went wrong during game or practice has helped me perform at a higher level. I will strive to always have a smile on my face.
From the physical aspect- I pride myself on never missing any open gyms, or opportunities to work out regardless of mandatory or not. Working harder than you worked the day before has always been a good recipe for a solid performance. I rarely have injuries because I don't just put in the bare minimum required by the sport like many players do. I also make sure I eat healthy, making sure that I get enough sleep and rest during the week.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

It is important as a female athlete to be a positive role model for younger girls in our community. I volunteer at various clinics that are hosted by varsity sports at the High School. Our travel team performs various clinics for the 10U and 12U girls teams that teach younger players that importance of sportsmanship. We were taught at a young age that participating in organized sports can make us better student athletes, and better citizens.
I often speak to younger girls about my success as a female student athlete (basketball, volleyball and softball), and how the organization, commitment and discipline that I have learned has made me a better student. This past summer I also assisted in coaching the 5-6 year old girls softball team. I like being able to impact how much someone, like a child, likes a sport. Watching them succeed as they grow up will always be one of my favorite things to do.
