2019 Class A State 800m Indoor Champion,
Per Milesplit: Westbrook's Mahamed Sharif set the all-time 800m state meet record with a 1:55.45 winning effort at Class A state meet and he is the only athlete to run under 1:56 in a state meet in the 21 years the event has existed.
At the 2019 Dartmouth Relays, I nearly broke the existing 800m record (1:54.58) set in 2000 with a time of 1:54.89.
At the 2019 New England’s HS Meet, I ran 2:31.89 in the 1000m which was the second fastest time in Maine history.
Per Milesplit: Class A State champion Mahamed Sharif ran in section 3 of the Emerging Elite 800m race. Sharif who ran 1:54.89 to qualify for the event; winning the Dartmouth Relays was running on a banked track only for the second time in his career and the first time at the 800m distance. He opened with speedy 27.17 for the 200m positioning himself well in second place. He remained in contention through the 400m in 55.38, and at 600m in 1:24.66. It was anyone's race with 100m to go and Sharif went hard to finish second in the section and a new state record 1:53.72, the winner came from section 2. Sharif erased the time of 1:54.16 set back in 2010 by Greely's Mark McCauley.
