I found rowing after playing both varsity football and basketball, I learned a lot from these sports but wanted a new challenge. Rowing has given me the opportunity to excel at a superior athletic sport which I have fallen in love with. I have only been rowing for 3 months and found that I have lots of potential.
I would like to be recruited to play sports in college because I would like to be a better rower and to meet new people. In college If I were to row in college it will give me the tools to become a better rower with professional coaching and equipment to perform the best that if I get recruited. Getting recruited would also facilitate me getting to know other rowers that have different strengths and weaknesses that I do and create lifelong friendships as I have done in high school .
As a very positive and focussed person many people look up to me on and off the field. When in the weightroom, I help younger rowers perfect their form after practice in order for them to get stronger for the future and protect them from potential injury. When not playing sports, I was involved in leading and organizing many group projects at my school as well as being on the board for Red Ribbon Week at Corona del Mar HS.
I pursue healthy athletic performance by simply organizing myself so I can reach my full potential. First, I put an emphasis on maintaining a healthy diet which involves meal planning that will help me reach my full potential before practice and enable me to be competitive. Next, I prioritize finishing school work before I go to play sports so I am able to focus and not be distracted by school. Finally, I love to socialize but I refuse to participate involving drugs or alcohol because it is unhealthy for both my mental and physical health.
I am involved in many different service projects throughout my community. Most recently, I head coached a youth 2nd grade flag football team as well as being part of a club called PAL (peer assistance leadership) with promotes sobriety and drug awareness among teens.
