Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

Out of the field, I was a project leader for the "Summer Jumpstart Program" which aided underprivileged children in my community by providing one-on-one tutoring. When I am involved with rowing, I try to lead my team by example by giving 150% effort whenever we workout. Whether it be on the erg, on the water, lifting, or running I try my hardest and encourage my peers to work their hardest in order to be the best athlete they are capable of being.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

As a student-athlete, I am adamant about maintaining a healthy diet. Typically my diet consists of a balance of protein, vegetables, fruit, and carbs. I allow myself to consume sweets and other sugar-heavy substances from time to time. In addition, I am very against the consumption of alcohol and drugs as a student. In my opinion, it's wrong and parents should not tolerate their high school children being exposed to toxic substances.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

For 3 years, I volunteered as a tutor and project leader for the "Summer Jumpstart Program" aimed to provide one-on-one tutoring for English as second language students for K to 6th grade over the summer. The program was a humbling experience for me because it offered the opportunity to help underprivileged students in the district. I remembered some students had to walk to the library to attend the weekly program because their families did not own vehicles. It was a great experience to contribute to my community by helping students who were struggling in school without assistance from their family. In addition, I was part of a club called the "Green Team" from 6th to 8th grade. Our mission was to promote recycling by standing around the garbage can during lunch and fishing out cans or bottles from the garbage for recycling. During 7th grade, we started a garden and grew vegetables for donation to clients of Rockland County Catholic Charities. I really enjoy my time on the Green Team because I believed I had made significant contributions to the environment as well as needy families in my community.
