Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

Off the lake, I'm the Vice President of the Junior Firefighters. Over the last five years, I have moved up through the ranks of Junior Firefighting, and won 7 awards along the way for demonstrating strong leadership skills. On the lake, I lead by example by demonstrating a strong work ethic and never compromising on good sportsmanship. Every day I show up, work hard, help others. I give back to my rowing community by participating in the Learn to Row Day, and demonstrating a strong moral compass.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I pursue a healthy athletic performance by practicing balance in all aspects of my training. I keep a consistent balance in life and incorporate time management as to avoid excessive stress and to allow the maximum mental energy towards my training. In addition, I approach my training with attention to self performance and an organized plan. I cross-train to avoid injury and focus on proper technique. I also follow a specialized diet to achieve maximum training capabilities and to allow for the highest muscle performance as possible. I attack all aspects of my training -- physical, mental and nutritional with well developed plans and execute them with precision.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.
  • Volunteer at the Chargers Learn to Row Day: Important to me because I can inspire kids in the same way I was inspired to start rowing.
  • Volunteer as a Middle School Tutor: important to me because I enjoy leadership opportunities, helping my community and creating innovative and creative strategies to help kids learn.
  • Volunteering as a Junior Firefighter: Important to me because I can serve and protect my community.
  • Volunteering as a Counselor In Training at a local day camp: Important to me because I can look after the safety of kids, while also providing a fun experience and expanding my skills in leadership.
  • Volunteering as a Counselor In Training at the Junior Firefighter Camp: Important to me because I get to train new Junior Firefighters and see them progress throughout their training.
