Personal Highlights

Please feel free to contact me directly at alieyapiressoccer2021@gmail.com

A personal highlight of mine is scoring the game winning semi-final goal for my High School team. Which allowed us to go to the finals and win the YRAA Championship. Another would be when I played goalie in a tournament during semi-final and finals when my goalie got injured, we went into PK's during the finals and I not only scored my own PK but I also stopped the other team from winning and my team became Champions of that Tournament and I received an award for MVP of the game.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I want to be recruited because I love to play soccer and want to be playing a high and intense level of the game. I know that I have the determination and hard work ethic to be an impact player on any team I'm on. I've played soccer all my life and know that it's something that I desire to continue at University.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I am the Vice President of the Athletic Council at my high school. I have organized my schools Terry Fox run, Homecoming pep rally and game as well as organized several intramurals. I also am a scorekeeper for my school. Additionally, I am the athletic announcer on the announcements in the morning on any sports news from my school teams.

I am also a swim instructor and lifeguard at my local community center.

I have volunteered with my local elementary school where I taught children how to pray the Rosary and also helped teach the kindergarteners how to read.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I pursue a healthy athletic performance as a student-athlete by taking care of my mental health whether it is listening to music to get focused or listening to a motivational podcast. I also, eat the proper foods before game days and constantly stay hydrated, so I can have the energy I need to perform. Lastly, I also workout out on my own outside of the club to gain more strength in my body and to work on my sprints.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Every year for the past five years I have raised over a thousand dollars for children with cancer, by running the sporting life 10k. This is important to me because I lost a cousin with cancer when he was very young and I want to help make any difference I can to stop this from happening to other families. I also have taken part in research studies at The Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. Not only that but I help out my school community by scorekeeping basketball and volleyball games and I was also a volunteer swim instructor for two years at my local community center. I believe that swimming is a very important life skill that everyone should know, and express this through my teachings once I became a full instructor and life guard.

Despite not being able to see my team and being train with them, I have been maintaining my own personal fitness and improving my soccer skills daily these past few months. Like Alex Morgan said...
