Though no seniors in the program, the goal to finish in the top half of the Minnesota River Conference is a realistic one, Southwest Christian head boys golf coach Ben Thorson said.

Returning five letter-winners, including junior Ty Watchorn and eighth grader Jacob Ferrin, the Stars are looking to improve its nine-hole scoring average by seven strokes or more from last season.

"Our team set high expectations both as a team and individually during our goal setting meeting this week. I’m excited to see the hard work our players will put into achieving these goals," said Thorson, now in his third year leading the program.

On a team with no seniors, Watchorn's leadership will be important. Of the handful of returning golfers, two are in middle school, while others are juniors including Mason Day and Jack Lauerman.
