Other Academic Information
I attend school at Southwest Career and Technical Academy. However, I play sports at my local high school known as Sierra Vista. At Southwest I am currently in the nursing program where i have learned all the skills needed in order to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. I have also passed the Nevada Board of Nursing written and skills exam which qualifies me to receive a CNA license. With this foundational knowledge i hope to attend college and pursue a higher career in the medical field.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I have always enjoyed playing sports in high school, especially track. Over the years I have grown a deep passion with this sport and it has helped me push myself both mentally and physically beyond what I thought was capable of me. To be able to have the opportunity to take my athletics to the college level would be incredible because unlike high school, I would be competing against more dedicated athletes like myself.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

Within track, i have demonstrated my leadership by leading drills and stretches before the workouts a few times. I have also been the one to make sure my relay teams are warmed up and ready to go prior to the race. Outside of track I have shown leadership in school projects where I divide the workload amongst my group members and make sure everyone is engaged and participating. Along with that I have led discussions within the Young Adult Ministry at my church.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

As a student-athlete I make sure that I find a balance between my school life and track life. I plan my days so that I am always on top of my school work and obtain substantial grades at all times while still enjoying the sport. This leaves no room for me to become ineligible to run throughout the season. To keep myself from becoming too stressed trying to balance both, I also ensure that I receive an adequate amount of sleep. On the more physical side, I always make sure I drink enough water and eat the proper foods before working out to avoid dehydration or dizziness. I take my warm ups and cool downs seriously so that I can avoid injuries as well.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

As a member of HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America/Future Health Professionals), I partake in many volunteer opportunities throughout my community. Some of these include volunteering with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, elementary schools, and homeless shelters such as Shade Tree. Taking part in my community is important to me because it helps build my confidence in interacting with people and I love doing selfless acts to help others.
