Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

For me playing a sport and being active in my studies helps me focus a lot more, knowing that I have something to look forward to at the end of the day. It helps keep my time management in check and my mental health well. Playing lacrosse makes me happy, because it's such a fun sport and I always look forward to playing.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

Off the field I am an older sister to my two siblings and I know that they look up and follow what I do, so I make my best effort everyday to be a role model to them and teach them the right and wrongs of the world. On the field, there are many girls that want to try lacrosse and I help them with learning the basics of the sport whether it be teaching them off to the side during practice or going out during the weekends to help them learn the basics.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I make sure that if I have a game the next day I get enough sleep so I'm well rested and not groggy on the field. A big part of being a student-athlete is being a successful student first, so I make sure to do my homework and projects ahead of time so I don't take time away from practice or display zero effort on the field. Another part of being an athlete is making smart food choices so you can keep your body in good condition and prevent dehydration.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I help volunteer at my local animal shelter, I enjoy it because I know that I'm helping an animal in need and giving a helping hand to the staff working at the shelter since there are so many animals to care for. I also volunteer at vacation bible school and I help lead the children throughout their day, knowing that they're excited to come back and participate everyday for the week makes me very relieved that I can help the church spread their beliefs. During the winter season I help volunteer at my younger sister's school to help teach elementary students lacrosse, knowing that I'm helping to spread the sport to the youth in my community brings joy as they have fun learning the sport.
