As Diamond's mother I was very worried about how to gain exposure for my daughter coming from a small 2A school in the Arkansas delta. Her school is not big on girls sports and I knew all recruiting efforts would come from her parents alone. The first chance I had to ask this question arose when we attended track camp at University of Arkansas under Coach Chris Johnson. I posed this question to him and he ensured me that communication and exposure were key. Mostly communication so that coaches could convert Diamond from numbers on a page to understanding her story as an athlete.
Diamond comes from a very small school, that has a history of great athletes. She trains hard with the boys track team due to the lack of seriousness on the girls team in preparation. Her coaching has been great in conditioning but she has had little technical hurdles training. Under the right program her numbers could continue to drop by learning cleaner techniques. She is eager and willing to work. I can only hope and pray that the right coach can see the potential collegiate athlete she could become. Please contact us if you want to know more.
