Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I want to be recruited because I love crew and love the structure it provides in my life. It forces me to work out more, eat healthier, and drink more water helping me stay healthy. I helps me to stay social and be collaborative and work with people with different backgrounds and form unlikely friendships over common ground. But why I want to be recruited is I want to be on a team that wants me as much as I want it. If I'm on a team, I don't want to ride the launch every day while I am slowly kicked off my boat, I want to pull hard and give my full effort on any boat the coach puts me

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I'm a leader within my boat by being the "mom" of my friend group. I'm often the most calm and help my team mates with minor health problems (providing medical tape and food) and non judgemental advice. Off the water, I'm a student leader at my church youth group where I am taking active steps to become a mentor and friend to middle school girls.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I enhance my athletic performance on the water and the erg by making hydration and sleep a priority. Student-athletes often forget that they are still growing and in order for their brains and bodies to function properly they need water before, during, and after working out to reach peak performance. Rest is also very vital to let muscles rebuild and as a mental break to help the brain relax and prepare for mental and physical exertion.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I volunteer at the nursery at National Community Church and I love doing it because I enjoy interacting with babies and helping their parents catch a break and enrich their faith. I'm also a student leader in my youth group and I am focusing on becoming closer with the middle school girls. I want to try to erase some of the hesitancy/fear that might come with talking to upperclassmen and I want to share some of the struggles with my struggles with my faith to show them that doubt is normal and to encourage them to build community with other girls.
