Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I'm in love with the sport of rowing, and would love to continue the sport through college.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

Demonstrating leadership with rowing, I always work with the novices to help them improve, and I coach them through getting better. I am often put in novice boats as their coxswain to work with them.

To demonstrate leadership outside of rowing, I have been doing martial arts for over six years, and at the academy where I study karate, they have a Leadership program, which you have to be asked to join. I have been a part of the Leadership program since yellow belt (I am now a second degree black belt) and I am now an instructor of martial arts.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

As a coxswain, I don't row in the races or on the water at practices very often, but I do my best to stay healthy as a student-athlete by working out with my team when we are on land. I also do martial arts outside of rowing, and have my own rowing machine to work out on.
I stick to a healthy diet (Pescatarian; vegetarian who eats fish and seafood) and I try to have three to four full meals each day.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I volunteer at the Toledo zoo, and I have for four years.
A few things that the Toledo Zoo Volunteer program (ZOOTeens) involves:
* Environmental protection. I've gone out to clean up fishing equipment that pollutes the rivers, after the annual Walleye run.
* Terracycling. Terracycling is the recycling of materials that can't be recycled the same way most plastics and other things can be.
These things are important to me because the environment and our planet are important to me.
Another aspect of the ZOOTeen program is the education. I work with the visitors of the zoo, teaching them about the animals and enhancing their zoo visits.
