Personal Highlights

2xTimes Miami Herald Horonable Mention.

At the moment I am one of the team captains of the Miami Southridge Senior High Varsity Soccer Team. I started playing soccer at the age of 8, since them I have played in many teams in and out of the country. I started play in Cuba where I played at county, and state level until the age of the of 12. Following I came to the United States and continued with my passion for soccer.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I consider that it represent the next level for me in order to prepare and embrace my self as a player to become a professional soccer player.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

In the field as team captain, I try to be the best to provides guidance, direction and leadership to my team. Starting from simple things like no cursing, to always my 100% in every practice and every game. Off the field in absence of my old brother who left to the Army, I’m who my little brother look up to. Is always my objective to be the best example for him that I can be. Teaching moral and lesson that will make him a better person.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Everything that is related to sports always will be in my interest. That is the reason why I took the opportunity to become a Student Athletic Trainer at Miami Southridge High School. This program was designed to create an environment where students can observe and experience the field of Sports Medicine. Student aides will gain knowledge of anatomy and physiology, relate injuries to the demands of sport, assist with immediate care of injuries once proper skills are obtained, observe and understand rehabilitation techniques while assisting athletes with basic rehabilitation exercises, assist with the application of modalities and understand the effectiveness of each, and assist with general athletic training procedures during games and practices. The goal of the program is to prepare us for future education and professional responsibility.
I was part of this program for 5 month, quite enough time for myself to develop skills around this field and also for gaining experience. With the help of Ms. April the Head Athletic Trainer of the high school, we were able to acquire knowledge in the anatomy of the body, also about every injury that can happen, in order to prevent and treat them. This program didn't just helped me, it was of great benefit for the Student Athletes to insurance their health and a safer environment for sports.
