Personal Highlights

My name is Taylor Wiescamp, and I am a 6’1” junior at Coal Ridge High School in New Castle, Colorado. Since the beginning of my freshman year, I have been a starting Middle Blocker/Hitter for the CRHS Varsity volleyball team. I am a three-sport athlete at Coal Ridge including volleyball, basketball, and track. I would like to play volleyball at the collegiate level to further my knowledge and play of the game. This year my coach chose me to serve as a volleyball team captain.

While I am very busy athletically rolling from one seasonal sport to the next, I am even more committed to my academic endeavors. I have taken or currently enrolled in three Advanced Placement courses and two dual-credit college courses while maintaining a cumulative 4.0 GPA. I started taking high school course work in the 8th grade; therefore, I am in senior-level Anatomy & Physiology science class, as well as dual-college credit Algebra/Trigonometry as a junior.

My extra-curricular involvement is not just limited to athletics. I love Student Council and have actively held leadership positions since my freshman year including Freshmen and Sophomore Vice-President, and am currently serving as Junior Class President. I have chaired various committees including pep assemblies, dances, hall decorating, and now Prom. I was nominated by my coaches and invited by my athletic director to join Captains’ Council, a leadership council that unites sports teams to focus on school and community improvement. We are involved in school spirit activities, as well as community volunteer opportunities. I also attend weekly Fellowship of Christian Athletes meetings where I get to express my love for Christ and appreciation for my opportunities. Lastly, I am a member of the National Honor Society.

During the summer months, I have worked at a local restaurant and for a local rancher. These employment opportunities give me new experiences of working with adults. I have expanded my leadership, problem-solving, and customer service skills. I also can easily perform under pressure and quickly prioritize tasks. I can also work on my own and meet a deadline. I can work right alongside adults and hold my own. I am not afraid of manual labor or getting dirty.

When I am not in the classroom or on a court/track, I enjoy hiking, fishing, and playing in the water. I love spending time with my family and friends enjoying the beautiful part of Colorado where I live.

To be successful on and off the court, I must have strong work ethics, focus, and drive. I embody all of these traits due to my supportive family, friends, teachers, coaches, and community. I take my academics very seriously, as well as my athletic opportunities. I am a dependable teammate and coachable player. I am looking for an opportunity to pursue volleyball at the collegiate level while pursuing a degree in diagnostic or sports medicine healthcare field. I am willing to attend college in or out of Colorado in order to reach my academic and athletic goals.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
