Personal
I am a Christian scholar athlete. My goal is to continue to play travel softball and to play high school softball for Orange Lutheran High School. I am 13 years old (2007) and am the starting shortstop on my 14U travel softball team, OC Cal Cruisers (2006) McDonnell/Turi. I bat 4th in the order due to my batting/slugging and on-base percentages. I also start at third and catcher when needed. I currently attend batting lessons with Mike Schroeder of Softball Performance Workshop. I attend catching lessons with Kellsi Kloss of Jen Schroeder Catching. I also attend fielding lessons with Ken Briggs of Briggs Softball Training and who also coaches for Orange Lutheran High School. I have also attended fielding lessons with Morgan Stuart at Softball Performance Workshop. I played basketball for my school (Calvary Christian before the COVID-19) and surf but softball is my passion. I am involved with student government at my school and currently serve as the Middle School President. My long-term goal is to play college softball at the Division-1 level at one of my desired colleges. I am currently in advanced math and have a 3.9 GPA. I am undecided on my major for my undergraduate degree but plan to go on to get my Juris Doctorate and eventually become a practicing family law attorney in Southern California. I have strong family support, work hard and am very disciplined. I certainly have much to learn about softball but am committed to achieving my goals through hard work and dedication.
I would like to have a full college experience to include playing college level sports. I will, of course, put my academics first in college just as I do now. My parents have encouraged me in sports where I am learning about leadership, communication, hard work, team, self-sacrifice, facing my fears and preparation. I believe these traits will make me a better a better employee, person and woman. I love sports and especially the team aspect of softball. I like being around strong and confident girls. I believe this will help me to be a capable attorney one day.
I am currently the Middle School President at Calvary Christian School. I have also been a starting catcher in softball the last three years where I serve as a leader. Both positions have made me better in the other. I think my communication skills and confidence set me apart in both positions. Although I am the youngest player on the team, my team mates still listen to me and look to me for signs and plays on the field.
I put my faith, family, academics and athletics in that order. The first three make me better at athletics. My parents respect my decisions to cancel fielding lessons when I have a ton of homework or a big test the next day. They also help me work around family activities so I don't miss out due to athletics. I put extra work in when I can so my coaches know that I'll be ready on game day even if I have to miss a practice or a lesson. They know I am a hard worker and committed and I believe it shows on the field.
As Middle School President and a member of student government the past two years, I am involved in a variety of service events throughout the year. Recently we visited an elderly veteran and helped him celebrate during the COVID-19 crisis. I am currently involved in an Operations Christmas Child/Shoebox Outreach for children this Christmas. I am looking forward to attending Orange Lutheran and participating in missions trips. My family and I have also worked with a local homeless individual to help provide him food, clothing and other essentials as well as love, fellowship and prayer. I am very fortunate and blessed so I feel it is important for me to share with my community.
