I have been playing golf since I was 5 years old and i still love it like the first day I started. Golf has been a very important factor throughout my life since it has teached me many things. It has made me travel and know this amazing places like Japan, Europe and many more. It has made me meet many people and has left me many friends. It has also teached me many values like honesty, responsibility, patience, hard work, and to never say never. I would love to keep on going with my golf career and get the farthest I can in college. I know I need to work harder and I think playing college golf will help me achieve my dreams.
I have demonstrated leadership in both Academics and Athletics. In academics I have demonstrated leadership by School clubs like youth group. I am the Vice President of Youth Group which is a club were every person in my school is invited to join to get closer to God. Youth group is a religious group were we have an event every month to help strengthen our relationship with God. We organize retreats, all night adoration and many more fun things.
In athletics I have also demonstrated leadership. Well first of all golf is a sport we’re leadership plays a very important role since you are you’re own leader of your game. The mind is most important thing is this game and you control your own thoughts each round. The mind is what makes each player unique and better than other. But I have also demonstrated leadership by giving golf classes in my home course which is Club Campestre de Mexicali. Many friends who want to start golfing usually ask me for classes and I like to help little kids who want to start playing golf.
What I here the most when I tell friends or people that I golf is that you don’t need many condition like in other sports because you just walk. But I stay like Oh my God you just didn’t say that. Golf is a sport we’re you need the most condition because even though you walk it is tough to play a 5 hour round we’re you need to stay concentrated the whole time since every shot counts. You do need the same energy for the round even more for the closing since the last few holes are the most important. What I do to maintain my athletic performance is working out at least 4 times a week. I have a physical trainer who knows about golf and implements moves to my routine that will help me with my golf swing. He also helps me get stronger so I can increase my swing speed.
Since my junior high school OLGA we have been required to complete certain number of service hours each year. The first year it did felt like a requirement and felt like forced to complete them but then I started to feel like I needed them. I have completed my service hours since 8th grade and each year I leave with more things that impact my life. I have learned many values through service to the community that I can’t even explain. I have learned to value everything I have in my life like my family, my house and everything that I have and I know I am truly blessed. For two years I completed my service hours in a little school called Calasanz which was in a poor neighborhood in the city I live which is Mexicali, Baja California. In this school I helped little kids with there homework and was like the teachers helper. But more than that, these kids needed love and support. Many of this kids had faced many problems in their house like no parents, alcoholic parents or on drugs, poverty and violence. But what I was truly amazed was that even with those problems you could see they had a big heart and they were happy kids. You could feel this kids love and happiness toward you every time you got there. I really loved this experience. I have also completed my service to the community helping the elderly people in a asylum. That was also a great experience. And this year I did something different with my classmates. We went to Salvation Army were people donate things and Salvation Army sells this things and with that money many families who are facing problems are helped. We went there and helped clean and organize what people brought and donated.
