I am not only a lead team member for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes representing the football team, but I also lead prayer and devotion for the team on a daily basis. It is during these times that we truly come together as a team, which is vital before stepping on the field. Aside from sports, I am the President of Student Council and Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society. Additionally, I have served on the Jones County Schools Student Advisory Committee where I have had the opportunity to provide input on the policies that directly affect the students of Jones County School District. While the positions are important, it is ultimately your character that attests to true leadership. If you cannot lead by example, it is best that you just take a backseat.
At West Jones High School, I am involved in countless organizations that contribute to our community in various capacities. With Teens Getting Involved for the Future, I speak to 7th grade students once a month about the importance of good moral character. Through National Beta Club, I have been involved with service projects such as the Mississippi Food Bank, local nursing homes, and mentoring at the elementary schools. A member of Key Club, I ring the bell during Christmas for the Salvation Army. Our two big projects every year with Student Council are Relay for Life and bi-annual blood drives. A lead team member with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, we are instrumental in the local Christmas Child Program. Last school year, however, I was able to implement my own service project through Future Leaders of Jones County. I partnered with the school organizations on campus and spearheaded a canned food drive for The Glory House in Laurel, MS. I further worked with The Glory House in their annual Stamp Out Hunger Program.
