Reflection on the Spring Season
June 14, 2021
I was extremely excited to get back on the water this spring. Many of us didn't think we would be able to get back into coxed boats until the fall. Nevertheless, my team trained from January to March on the ergs to stay in shape. To help my coaches, I ran the virtual practices for girls that were hybrid students, or quarantined. It was great to be able to see everyone's faces and be back with my teammates.

Bay View recently switched from fours to eights in an effort to make our program more competitive with our smaller roster. I was a little nervous to get back on the water, but when I sat in the coxswain seat, everything came back to me. During the past year, I have been diligently watching other coxswain's recordings and better developing my technical eye. This paid off when we got back on the water in bowloaders. Switching to fours helped me to develop boat feel and refine my steering. My coaches and I have noticed a big improvement on my steering and practice management. I can't wait to keep improving as we head into head race season this fall!
