My parents always wanted me to get involved in some form of sport, they knew I needed to challenge myself and I also needed a place to channel all of the extra energy I had as a younger child. I tried soccer and basketball and swimming turned out to be the one thing I felt most comfortable with. Swimming is not only a way to keep me physically active, I use it as a way to stay focused and disciplined always challenging myself and striving to reach new goals.
I will be applying for the position of team captain for the upcoming swim season. Out of the pool, I participate in other community services initiatives such as feeding the homeless and hosting an annual toy drive. I am also an employee at my local YMCA as a swim instructor where I teach younger kids how to swim. In the past, I have been recruited by parents of my younger YMCA swim teammates to mentor and work with them to help encourage them to be better swimmers.
I participate in swimming all year long. I also work with a personal trainer during spring and summer to help build stamina and a healthy weight.
For the past 2 school years I have been a member of the community service group at Chamblee High in which, I recruited them to join a toy drive that I have been hosting in conjunction with my parents business for the last 6 years.
I am also currently planning to host a voter registration event this spring/summer where I hope to help educate young voters on the importance of voting and encouraging them to register to vote.
