Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I want to run cross country in college because I love running competitively and I'm not ready to give that up yet. I also think being on a team as a freshman would help me transition to college life. I think contributing to a college team's performance would be super exciting and rewarding.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

This year, I'm the Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper. As a part of that role, I lead class everyday, manage content for the print publication and edit articles. On my cross country team, there are no formal leadership positions, but I think I've been a leader for new athletes to look to when they don't know what to do.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I think healthy athletic performance entails many things. For me, it means balancing school with running, which can be difficult at times. Some of the most important things to me are getting enough sleep, eating healthy foods, and surrounding myself with people who are just as passionate about maximizing their performance in both school and athletics. During the season especially, I encourage people on the team to have a positive outlook, and I try to do the same. Most importantly though, in order to have the best healthy athletic performance, I just give all the effort I have during practices.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I have been involved with my school newspaper for the past three years. Through writing articles, I am able to inform the community in a more engaging way on issues that affect them. This is important to me because it allows me to tell people's stories on a larger platform, and investigate topics that need to be discussed in our community.
