Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I always work to be the best I possibly can at everything. I believe academics come first but running helps my academics by increasing my overall fitness. Ideally, I would like to find a highly rated college with a STEM focus and a running program where I can grow and help the team.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I believe we all should have equal access to opportunities but it's up to us whether or not we take advantage of them. Attitude can go a long way toward taking advantage of opportunities. While I'm still an underclassmen, I do try to lead by example. I maintain a positive attitude during and try to make the most of workouts. I'm not the most vocal so I hope my example is contagious.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I try to pursue healthy athletic performance in several ways. First, I think it is important to make the most of training sessions and practices and also to recover. Second, when it comes to nutrition, I try to eat smart, healthy meals the majority of the time but allow myself to splurge once in a while. Additionally, I try to focus and give running all my attention during practices and meets, but I also take at least one day a week and pursue other interests to avoid burnout.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I think being a good citizen and helping out in my community is important and I enjoy helping others. I am an active participant in my town's Youth Commission. The Youth Commission is appointed by the Mayor to provide, promote, and coordinate activities for the young people in my hometown and our mission is to engage local youth in activities, community service, and environmental stewardship, while creating and improving city, school, and business partnerships.
