Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Hello, my name is Merritt Ellis, and I am a 2021 graduate who is looking for a college that is strong academically, and also has a competitive soccer team. I will bring a positive and happy outlook for the team as well as a strong work ethic. I am a very competitive player who likes to play at a fast pace & win, but also I try to continually improve my game. I typically play midfield (sometimes forward as a wing). Ideally, I'd like to be a pediatrician so academics are very important to me as well as having a well-rounded college experience.

I think my strengths as as soccer player would be:

I'm a hard worker on and off the field.
On the field, my vision, passing, and team work.
I try to unite and engage my teammates.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

Leadership comes in many forms and examples. I try to give my best daily whether in academics or sports. During the last few years of school, I have gotten very involved in several activities. I participate in Student Council and I stepped up to be the Student Council Secretary. I interviewed for a program at Blue Valley Southwest, Wolf Pack, and that is a leadership class within our high school in which I'm asked to motivate and drive the other students to support events, activities and get engaged. In addition to these activities, I participate in Debate, Varsity Tennis, Soccer, National Honor Society as well as work and volunteer at a local hospital.
On the soccer field, I try to motivate my team, keep a positive attitude and support my team. Additionally, my Club coach asks me to organize the holiday gift exchange, and captain several games. Trying to model great sportsmanship and give my best on a daily basis are probably the two biggest areas I can lead on my soccer team.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

In addition to attending practices and games, I try to work out daily and keep up my cardio and strength training. I try to also eat healthy and continually set small goals for myself to attain.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.
