Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

It has always been a goal and dream of mine to perform at the next level. I love everything about running, from the community to the competition, and I want to do it competitively as long as I can. I also love working hard toward a common goal and reaching it, the feeling is like no other.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

When it comes to athletics, my teammates have given me the title of “Hype Man.” This is because before every workout, race, or run, I’m always there to make sure my team is hyped up, focused, motivated, and ready to perform at the highest level. In the classroom, I’m one of the first ones my classmates come to if they need help or direction. They know I’m always there to help and contribute to their development. Outside of the classroom, I am generally someone people come to for guidance and direction as well. No matter if it is for advice, opinions, or decision making, my peers seek me out for leadership and I take great pride in that. Also, I participate in my school's student government and Co-ed Y-Club, a model government and leadership development program.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

Over the past few years, I have taken my health and performance more seriously. A few months ago, I established my own training regimen, which included workouts, weight training, and dieting, and since then I have seen great advancements in my performance in the indoor season. Unfortunately, I won't get to see those advancements during the outdoor season this year, but I plan to continue working to improve in cross country season. That grind also carries over into the classroom, as I have always taken challenging and advanced classes to push myself. I am very invested in myself as seventy-five percent of my time is spent on either my academics or athletics. I thoroughly believe there is not a lot we can control in this world, but two things we can is our effort and how hard we work.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I routinely volunteer in the gift shop of my local hospital. I do everything from sweeping the floors, taking inventory, and running the cash register. The most rewarding part is being able to provide a sense of comfort to people who are in their toughest or best times, as well as making life easier for the doctors and medical staff that serve our community. I also participate in various community service projects with Co-ed Y-Club.
