Personal Highlights

I am new to diving and have been told that I possess great raw talent. As a student, a diver, and a gymnast I work hard from before sun up to late at night. I am humbled to have parents that support whatever crazy ideas I have and constantly push me to achieve excellence. When I am not tumbling or diving I love to take pictures. I have a unique ability to see the world through a different lens. I love to capture a shot that no one else can see, even if they are standing beside me when I take it. After college, I would love to pursue a career in photography.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I want to continue to do what I love. I am good at diving and I am an even harder worker. I would be a valuable asset to any college team. I can't wait to help guide a team to gold.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

As one of the older gymnasts on the team, I am often asked to help the younger guys with skills and mental challenges. Every summer I volunteer at the gym for the camp for younger athletes. I know the impact of the guidance given by older gymnasts since I looked up to the guys that did my job when I was just starting out.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

My diving training has me in the pool 3-4 days per week. While training, I put in at least 3 hours per day on dry land, trampoline, dry board, and platform drills. In addition I practice on 1 meter, 3 meter, and platform to perfect my dives. When not in the pool I am in the gym with my gymnastics team. Each week I am at the gym the remaining days of the week conditioning, stretching, using weights, and practicing on the equipment. Each day in the gym is about 4 hours.

All this practice and training would be for nothing if I did not eat right and get an appropriate amount of sleep. My parents are vegan and I have adopted some of their healthy eating habits. Moderation is key.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

As a JO diver, High School Diver, and level 10 gymnast, I am limited as to how much time I can serve in my community. I am involved in my church, my high school chorus, and try to help my sister in her fundraiser to raise awareness for Brain Injury. She has an annual fundraiser at a local bowling alley where all proceeds benefit families of brain injury patients (Brain Injury Association of America). I do everything I can to help her make this fundraiser a success. My brother suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury before I was born and actually lost his battle on my 4th birthday. I like knowing that our efforts to raise money can help families like ours.
