I want to be recruited to play volleyball in college. Volleyball is my passion; it is what drives me to reach the highest level. I am committed to doing what it takes to succeed by showing up to practice early and taking advantage of every opportunity to strength train. The strategy of the game and setting the ball for the attack is exciting. I love encouraging teammates to persevere. Playing in college while pursuing a degree in business or sports management is my goal.
My mom was an American Heritage Girls Leader. Our unit did not have an active adult leader. I took on the responsibility of learning the material and teaching it to my peers. I planned fun activities to help us achieve our badges. My favorite was the World Heritage Badge. We worked with the younger girls by preparing a typical meal that people would eat in France. It was so much fun.
With COVID, I needed to take ownership and responsibility for myself and my success. I know my team will depend upon me when the time comes and I want to be prepared. I created a space in the basement with equipment that would help me train. With my Dad's help, we also created a volleyball area in the backyard where I could practice. At one point, when things opened up, I was able to gather a team of girls to practice in an obscure location. It was nice being in the gym with my peers. I can't wait for the season to return. Hoping and praying that there will be a Spring season for volleyball in our state.
If there is an opportunity to help others, I am there. When tornado-like winds came through our neighborhood, my family and I went and helped to clean up the debris and downed trees. I like to go to the nearby pregnancy center and donate diapers. When floodwaters hit, my family and I went to help fill sandbags.
