Soccer Additional

After 5 seasons playing in the junior teams for Nepean FC in the Womens National Premier league Division 2 competition, I have recently been selected to play in the Senior Nepean FC squad for the upcoming 2021 season.
My position over the years has varied between attacking and defensive midfield. My strengths are my fitness, acceleration, agility and short passing game. Areas where I would like to improve this season are in developing stronger ambidexterity, as well as taking the finishing shot when the opportunity arises rather than always looking for the assist. I am a loyal, highly coachable, hardworking team player and have managed to stay injury-free so far, despite throwing myself into every tackle.

In the off season I pick up futsal, which is possibly even more fun than soccer as its fast-paced and end-to-end nature means every game is a nail biter! The highest level I have competed at so far is in January 2019, when I was selected to play for my state in the Football Federation Australia (FFA) U15 National Futsal Championships. I am currently in my third year playing in an all-ages mixed futsal comp, which has taught me a lot about how to hold my own against faster and stronger male players. Unfortunately, futsal is not offered in US colleges, however, it has played an essential role in the development of my overall soccer confidence and ability.

Other Academic Information
I am accustomed to balancing my sports commitments with my studies as I attend an academically selective high school in Sydney (ranked top 45 in the State of NSW) with a rigorous curriculum. My academic results are important to me and great considering the amount of class time I miss due to extra-curricula commitments. However, I do not believe that the GPA conversion of my grades to a 3.4 GPA (unweighted) fairly reflects my academic capabilities as the nature of my selective school means internally marked grades are highly competitive. A better measure would be the results achieved from my first sitting of both the SAT exam, scoring a 1300 and the ACT exam, scoring a composite of 29. I plan to retake either the SAT or ACT now that I am more familiar with the format and expect I will improve these scores.

Personal Highlights

Attending a US college would be a dream, as it would allow me to continue playing soccer at a high level at the same time as reaching my academic goals. The inhouse coaching, facilities & housing offered at US colleges are, unfortunately, unparalleled here in Oz. I’ll be graduating December 2020, with hopes to enroll for fall of 2021.

Other notable achievements to date, include receiving the school award for Sportswoman of the Year for the last two years in a row, having represented my school at state level in long jump, triple jump and 4km cross country, as well as at regional level in various track events. While I am quite competitive in track and field, I have never had the benefit of coaching and do not compete in track and field or Cross country outside of the three school-organized events held each year. I apologise for any poor technique you may be subjected to viewing in my video uploads but believe that with a little training and coaching, I would see substantial improvements in my results.

Outside of sport, I am very involved in extracurricular activities: I am a prefect at my school, oversee the running of my school’s second-hand uniform shop and am currently close to completing my International Duke of Edinburgh Gold award; having already completed Bronze and silver.
