I love being a part of a group that shares a common goal. I've been a part of team sports since I was 3 yrs old in different sports, from being the youngest competing team gymnast in the state of Oregon, to playing competitive soccer, basketball and lacrosse. Lacrosse has been by far, my favorite sport. Having a team sport has always helped me with time management, fitness and above all, genuine fun and love of the sport itself. The team dynamics are by far the most important to adding to my college experience.
Balance is very important to me. My family taught this to me young. I cannot be a great athlete without being a great student, and they both have to come hand in hand. I strive to continually maintain my athletic performance by incorporating speed, agility, weigh lifting, etc.. into my weekly routines not only DURING my seasons, but outside of my seasons. I love to work out at the gym with my family (including my special needs older brother) because it allows for some family time together, I enjoy training at a local athletic training facility because I get to spend time with friends while weight lifting, running, shooting together. I continually fit in time for friends outside of the sport itself on the weekends. Training, playing other sports, working out with family, staying active outside of lacrosse are all pieces to what makes a great student-athlete with STUDENT being the most important piece of this. I work very hard to maintain grades and study outside of sports.
I participate in a service, leadership group in our community called "Hands helping Hands". This is a group of dedicated high school students from around our area that offer to be involved in different service areas.
During Covid19 times I have been taking it upon myself to help shop for those in need including my grandmother and her neighbors who are all older and in the population of those that need to stay in their homes and decrease exposure. Since I am young, I would much rather put myself at risk than others much older than me.
Community service continues to keep me grounded and offer perspective to me.
