To Whom It May Concern:
It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I write to you about Joshua Williams, a student-athlete from Fort Pierce Central High School, who I have had the opportunity to coach/train basketball over the last year. Joshua is an intense competitor that has a strong desire to excel in the game of basketball. He has dedicated many hours toward making himself a very capable basketball player and the basketball skills that he possesses are very refined and polished for a player of his age. His enthusiasm, passion and work ethic are important intangibles that he brings to any team. Joshua is a mature student of the game. He has an excellent understanding of offensive and defensive principles that I implement in my trainings and does a terrific job of leading the other players with his strong desire to perfect the fundamentals of basketball. Josh is excellent in the open court and has the ability to create shots for himself and his teammates. He is a terrific athlete with an imposing frame and long body who really plays hard and smart defensively by providing a high basketball IQ and forever working relentlessly on making constant improvements to his game. As a player, he provides depth on the perimeter by stretching the defense with his long shooting range. His reliable perimeter shooting opens up the post game and causes many problems for opposing defenders. Josh is a coach on the floor. He has an excellent basketball mind and a terrific understanding of the game. His vocal leadership and his unselfish style of play make his teammates better.
Besides the fact that Josh is an excellent basketball player who has tremendous upside and potential, his character and integrity is second to none. Josh is a very bright student who is dedicated to his schoolwork and realizes the importance of a quality education. Josh’s development as a highly motivated student-athlete reflects his strong desire to excel academically and in everyday life. He has dedicated many hours toward mentoring other athletes at local gymnasiums and outside courts and the interpersonal skills that he possesses are very refined and genuine for a person his age. His enthusiasm, passion and work ethic are important intangibles that he brings to any situation. His continuous efforts to better himself and others shows the selfless attributes that contribute to Josh’s character. Joshua’s family support system consists of loving and successful parents who have demonstrated to him the value of dedication and commitment into achieving goals.
Josh presents himself very well and associates himself with friends of good quality. The self-respect and dignity that he carries himself have earned him great respect from his peers as well as younger boys who aspire to “be like him.” I’ve had the opportunity to observe Josh with friends and have found him to be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as he is about his own accomplishments. He gives so much toward his own self-improvement that he doesn’t have time to criticize others. These are rare qualities for a young student/athlete to possess in this day of age when so many are concerned about themselves and their own needs.
Thank you for taking time to read about this very special young man who exemplifies so many great qualities of what athletics should be about.
Respectfully Yours,

Coach Christopher Maxon, Head Basketball Coach
Fort Pierce Central High School (772)361-9185
