Personal Highlights

Hi, I'm Dylan Carter, three year varsity player for 7A Forsyth Central in Cumming, GA and for the 17U Atlanta Wolfpack AAU team. I am a 1 sport athlete, training in basketball year round - I do enjoy fishing and golf when not on the court. I am an athletic point guard, a play-maker who enjoys playing on both ends of the floor, shooting 40% from 3 and 50% from 2. Most people are surprised by my vertical leap when they watch me play. My stats include 4.1 assists, 1.5 steals, and an 74% free throw percentage per game. I believe in “team” and I am a strong competitor. I am also involved in school activities such as DECA, and school ambassador. I have a 3.40 GPA and plan on majoring in Business or Statistics. Follow me on twitter: @DylanCarter0410

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Playing on a team will help me stay disciplined in my classwork (as it does in the high school environment). I feel like basketball makes me a better student. I enjoy the camaraderie with the other players and it gives me a sense of purpose. Basketball feeds my soul - I have been passionate about playing since I could walk and I am not ready to give it up.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

First, I am a mediator, I often serve as the cool head when things might get heated between the coach and other players. I respect the coach and do not argue or talk back to the coach.
Second, I show other players that I will not respond negatively when I am being coached in a challenging way. Sometimes, I help talk a teammate off the ledge. If it is running as a team penalty, then I just get to work and don't worry about arguing about it.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I go to the store often with my mom and closely evaluate the nutritional content of the food we buy. I try to watch my macros intake so I am eating the right proportion of proteins, fats, and carbs. I workout daily on my physicality - weight lifting, pushups, etc... and I workout daily doing basketball drills and shooting, in addition to almost daily practices year round. I get a lot of sleep to keep my mind sharp for the classroom and the court.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I volunteer to help run children's basketball camps in the summer at the Recreation Center. I like helping kids understand the game and to reach their potential.
I am also an ambassador at my school - I help with events such as Alumni night, Homecoming dance, and Graduation. I like to be a part of my school community.
