Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I love playing field hockey, it always makes me happy, winning or losing. Although winning is very thrilling. I like putting forth my hard work into something that brings me joy. I also enjoy being busy and involved into a lot of things, from sports to school and clubs. I want to stay in shape and keep my time management going throughout college. As well as finding a group of friends and team mates to make a more memorable experience.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I was a co-captain my junior year and plan to be a captain senior year for my school’s varsity field hockey team. When varsity practices with junior varsity, I try to help with encouragement and tips for the younger players. Also, when moved to center back, I try to communicate as much as I can. Off the field, I am the secretary of both National Spanish Honor Society and National English Honor Society. I also have been promoted to Cake Decorator at Cold Stone Creamery, where I hold more responsibilities.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I go for runs on our days off and play other sports as conditioning. I try never to miss a practice and give it my all during both games and practices. While my eating choices out of season may not be the best (I work in Cold Stone and eat ice cream often). I always find a way to be more committed to my nutrition in season. Even with several AP classes, practices and games weekly, I am usually getting around 8 hours of sleep a night.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I volunteer with Wintergreen Adaptive Sports in the winter (2017-2020) to teach the disabled to ski and snowboard. It’s such an eye opening experience to last a life time, where children get to ski with their families for the first times. The smiles and tears of joy speak for themselves. I am also a part of National Spanish Honor Society (NSHS), National English Honor Society (NEHS), Operation Smile, and Kid2Kid which all provide small volunteer services around our school and community throughout the year. I am on the council of NEHS and NSHS.
