CHS Swim and Dive Team Captain
I want to be recruited to play sports in college because I have a strong desire to continue to pursue my swimming goals. I aspire to be a part of a collegiate team that has passionate, dedicated members who are driven to succeed and strive to better themselves by achieving individual and collective goals, such as by performing well at conference and national championship meets.
I have demonstrated leadership often, both in my education and extracurricular commitments. I am the Colony High Swim and Dive Team Captain, a role which allows me to help motivate and lead our team throughout the season and beyond. As a trainer for our suicide prevention program, I help facilitate trainings for students and teachers who plan to implement the program in their schools. In addition, I have been the student representative from our school for presentations, such as at the Alaska Society for Technology in Education Conference in which I presented to educators from around the state.
I pursue healthy athletic performance by keeping a good balance between my education and athletics, and also focus on keeping my social, physical, and mental health in check. I consistently work hard both in the pool and in school, but find that it is critical to take time to refresh and recharge through doing things that are relaxing for me like gaming, hanging out with friends and family, and even playing with my dogs.
I am extremely involved in service in my community and have contributed to the greater good in many ways. I am a trainer for our state-wide suicide prevention program, STAR, and have volunteered to train students and teachers at numerous schools and districts. I love graphic design, and consequently volunteered to create our new school logo which is currently used on all school gear that is sold as a fundraiser to support a variety of causes. Additionally, I have participated in events such as community clean-ups and fundraisers with my swimming club team, as well as helped to raise funds and do facility maintenance for other local non-profits, such as the Alaska Baseball League Mat-Su Miners.
