I live in a small rural area and starting playing golf my sophomore year. Our school has a golf team that is conjoined with a neighboring school's. All of our meets were only 9 holes so my 18 hole average is based off of my performance on 9. My very first golf meet, I scored a 67. Our season only consisted of 4 meets. Due to COVID-19 and our governor's executive orders, our 2019 spring season was cancelled. I continue to play on my own when I can, but the closest course is 32 miles away. This does not keep me from going out on my own and working on my swing. I am hopeful that I will get the opportunity to play in the spring of 2021 but there are so many uncertainties and I'm quite nervous about having missed out on my Junior year; missing the extra practice and competition.
I enjoy playing sports and being active. The thought of my sports career ending in another year is scary. I wish to see the country and experience everything I possibly can. I am from a small area and while my family travels a lot and I've been all over the United States, I desire to see and do other things as well. I come from a family of 6; with 3 siblings. College has always been something my parents have wanted for all of us, but their help will be minimal and I don't want them or myself to bear that burden if possible.
I was a mentor in the Boy Scout program and helped some of the younger scouts complete and earn their badges. During practices, I often help younger class men learning plays and their positions. I am a team player and always willing to step in and help whenever needed.
I play a sport during each season of the year and also participate in conditioning during the off-seasons. I am an active individual and when I'm not involved in some form of weights or sports, I work on my family's farm (or called upon by other farmers in the area) building fence, cutting trees, working livestock, and other miscellaneous odds and ends.
I was one of the youngest in our state to earn their Eagle Scout rank in Boy Scouts. I am also involved in the church youth group and have been part of community service projects and mission trips. During the summer, I help teach vacation bible school. I enjoy being a part of something that's larger than myself and helping others.
