Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I want to be recruited to play water polo in college because my passion is in the pool. I love to be challenged, and I set my goals to have a hard work ethic. My whole life I have found my joy in playing sports and water polo is where I feel like I belong. My teammates mean the world to me, and so does this sport. I am choosing to dedicate my life to this because I strive everyday to be the best. I want to be recruited to play water polo not to say I am a college athlete, or for the fame of it all, but because I am a competitor, willing to do what it takes, and what it will take to be a winner.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

Being a leader in the pool is tremendously important to me, but it can't stop there. As an athlete I choose to be a leader in and out of the pool. My freshman year of high school I was class president and worked to provide activities and spirit for my class. I spoke with teachers and administration in order to be a voice for my class. I also applied for a job my Sophomore year of high school. I dedicate every weekend to waking up early and going into the cafe/bakery that I work at. There I have become a leader, as I train new comers and gain experience in the work world. As a teammate I am also a leader. I often send messages to teammates individually when they had a great practice or played an amazing game and tell them how proud I am of them, and how accomplished they should feel. When a teammate is having a rough time I take the time to comfort them, and help them through their challenges. In the water I promote team communication and bonding, that way we can play as our best selves.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I pursue healthy athletic performance in many ways. One way is practicing good sportsmanship. I do not let an ego get ahead of me, and I work tremendously hard to be humble in the water. I am also a team player. I do as my coach asks, and practice coach-ability. I also practice good habits as an athlete such as cross training, stretching, and eating well. This all can be directly tied to my performance as a water polo player.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I am involved in service in my community by volunteering with the miracle league. This program allows for children and adults with disabilities to be able to play sports, specifically baseball. This is really important to me because as an athlete, who has a passion for sports, I believe everyone should be given the opportunities to participate in athletics. They have been a major attribute and value in my life that I hope to be able to share with everyone.
