Personal Highlights

Hi! I’m Alex, the youngest of 4 kids. My favorite sports are softball and volleyball. I am very competitive but also love sports. I’m an honors student and have maintained all As my Freshman year. When I’m not playing sports, I like to do makeup artistry and tutorials. I also love art and crafting. In sports, I have played softball since I was 6. Before that I played t-ball. I started volleyball in 6th grade and played club ball, but also played select softball. I pitch and play SS for my rec team, or really go anywhere they put me. In one game I played 4 positions...P, 1st, CF, and SS. That was some day! Aside from sports, I enjoy the water and going out on the lake to kayak or tube behind my dads boat. That’s me. Always doing something!

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I love softball and I am really good at it. I want to be recruited because I want to play with and against the best. Why not do what you love as long as you can, right?

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I am always the first to practice and offer assistance to those in need. If you need a ride to workouts, call me. If you need a shoulder to cry on, I am a great listener. As I call it, “spill the tea”. One way I have been able to be that go to person is through my own counseling. I feel a healthy mind is where life starts, so be sure to be the best version of yourself, so you can give back.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

Working out is just a small portion of being a healthy athlete. First, you must take care of yourself mentally and physically through good mental and nutritional health. I eat a balanced diet that helps with both performance and mental well being. Staying healthy through plenty of water and sleep is also essential. Lastly, I work hard and smart on my trade. I take breaks when needed, but I lift weights, take batting and pitching lessons, and practice with travel and high school nearly every day. I do allow myself a day a week to recover, and I love to pamper myself then and maybe indulge a little in some sweets or extra rest.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

For several years I have participated in FCCLA and done projects related to being an entrepreneur, while recycling and repurposing product that was headed for a dump. This has garnered me multiple state appearances over the years, and I have always believed in upcycling to help our earth be more sustainable. It is important that future generations know the beautiful land we have been privileged to live in.
