Rowing Additional

During quarantine, our coach provided us with workouts Monday-Saturday plus additional race pieces on Saturdays. We would email our workouts daily to coach. I did all of the workouts up until the end of May.

I did ORC's sculling camp for both sessions this past summer.
I volunteered at our team's Learn-to-row camp for two weeks this past summer.

I will be doing ODP this summer in Jacksonville, FL.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I would like to continue my involvement in rowing after high school. I hope to get scholarships to help pay for college.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I demonstrate leadership at my church when I altar serve. I have been doing it since fifth grade. I am a good example for newer altar servers. I am the only teenager who does the projections/media during the service. I am always encouraging novice rowers to try their best at every practice. I also help create an inclusive environment for new members.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I attend every practice and I work my hardest during the practice. I have been on an athlete's diet for a while now and I consistently drink water throughout the day. I make a genuine effort to get a good night's rest on a daily basis.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Every summer, I go out of state on a mission trip to help an underserved population. These trips are six days long. These trips give me the opportunity to serve in ways I couldn't typically do throughout the school year. Painting, landscaping, and playing with children are some of the tasks I have done. I also help with my church community every weekend by either altar serving or handling the projections/media for the service. I volunteered at my team's learn-to-row camp this past summer for two weeks. These efforts are important to me because I feel we are all called to help others around us and to make a difference whenever possible.
