I LOVE to dive. Platform diving is my favorite- 10 meter in particular. Its both super challenging and exhilarating at the same time. I love to work on new dives, I especially like the feeling of accomplishing a difficult dive and feeling my body break the water and hear the "pop" of the rip. Diving helps me decompress and destress. I want to continue diving beyond high school and collegiate level diving will help me train to be the best possible athlete I can be.
Having been a competitive athlete since age five, I have come to realize the importance of true sportsmanship and what it means to be a great teammate. I know what it feels like to succeed and also to fail. Being a solid support for your group- regardless of your personal situation, is critical to being and making a great team. I always try to find ways to get together with my teammates and enjoy activities together to help teambuilding and to have fun outside of the pool. It really helps to create a positive atmosphere during competition season and great friendship bonds beyond the season.
The term "healthy athletic performance" encompasses many facets of an an athletes life. I consider my health as a huge part of this performance, what I choose to eat, how I treat my body, getting good sleep. I try to make sure to have balance- work hard on the academic side because my grades are very important to me, give my utmost at every practice and every competition, but also enjoy myself and try not to take it all too seriously. I try to spend time laughing and hanging out with friends and my family when I can. My personality lends to more of a serious side, so I am learning that balance is critical to being a healthy performing athlete. I plan to continue to maintain this equilibrium on my future college path as well.
I have spent time with a local church food pantry volunteering on weekends. The best we can do is serve others respectfully and with love. By helping people shop for food they need to feed themselves and their families, I am able to give my time to an effort that is always worthwhile.
