I am really interested in the opportunity of spending time in America, and enjoying all the experiences that living in a new country can bring. A big attraction to me is that there are lots more opportunites with competitive sport at university level in America compared to the UK, and the potential to further my academic studies whilst at the same time competing in a sport I love is very appealing.
I am a Sports Leader at my high school which includes involvement in Primary School Sports events, providing coaching and refereeing for primary children aged 4 - 11 in their local sports competitions.
I have led parts of many sessions during diving training and also P.E. sessions in school with my peers.
I am currently doing a BTEC sport qualification in school which requires me to plan a session in depth, and then lead the session to a small group of students, whilst being assesed on my leadership skills and qualities.
I eat healthily and know the importance of quality sleep to my performance. I am self motivated in terms of maintaining my fitness, and this was really apparent during 6 months lockdown when there was no diving or school. I ensured that I kept to a conditioning and strength training schedule so when we returned to the pool in October I was ready. I also kept up with all my school work during this time, as I know the importance of learning, especially coming up to my last year before my GCSEs.
World Cycling Championships 2019: I represented my school as a medal bearer at the World Cycling Championships in September 2019. This was a great responsibility and opportunity to be on the stage with the world best cyclists, and was an honour to represent my school to the wider community.
