Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

The night before the 2020 state meet, our top runner was quarantined due to a COVID-19 exposure. As a captain, I had to help the team harness and overcome the emotions caused by that and encourage the team to use her absence as motivation instead of thinking that our shot at the championship was gone. Because of the waves we were placed in, I was the only captain in my wave with two girls who had never run the state course, so I had to try to explain some of the key features of the course to them. We were able to still come out with the championship title, which showed me just how important every member of a team is, and it doesn’t matter if they are a seasoned varsity member or just starting out on junior varsity.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.
