First and foremost, I love to compete (and win.) My current team's camaraderie has been an amazing part of my high school experience. It's also where most of my closest relationships have formed. I know that being a part of a team in college will make my college journey better.
Junior year I was selected as team captain for Cross Country & Track. I have helped organize communication and coordinated events and details for our large team. One example from last year, prior to being captain, was planning and hosting an inclusive outing for the incoming freshman girls with the goals of getting them to know the older students and to feel more comfortable starting their first year in high school athletics.
It is a balancing act and a constant focus. I take the proper steps in preparing, running, weight training, stretching, recovering (especially after pushing myself to the limit.) I'm also very focused on nutrition, sleep, and listening to my body. I have trained with a private running coach every Sunday for over three years, and even during COVID, to supplement my high school practices. We discuss my upcoming week's goals, how I'm feeling physically and mentally and I what I need to do to prepare for the week ahead.
I am passionate about environmental causes in my community and beyond. At school, I am member of the Environmental Activism Club and we volunteer our time throughout the community - working on and cleaning up parks and common areas.
