I want to be part of a team where everyone is as committed as me. I don't feel this way on my high school team. A lot of my teammates mess around and don't take it serious, which is frustrating because I take my running very seriously. So to be part of a team where everyone loves running as much as me would be amazing. I'm also stoked for the competition competing in college will bring.
As the top varsity girl on my high school team, I'm often viewed as the leader and example. Not only does my coach expect me to be both, but my team counts on me too. I'm in charge of leading stretches and making sure everyone goes on a cool down. I set a good example by telling everyone to be quiet while my coach is talking, and following his workouts exactly. Off the track, I'm also a leader in my home and with my friends. Often being the one people turn too when they need help or don't know what to do. I have no problem making decisions and keep the well being of everyone in mind when doing so.
I pursue healthy athletic performance by first and foremost taking care of my body. I make sure I stretch and cool down after every run. I also go to weekly physical therapy to stay on top of possible injuries. I eat healthy foods, and cross train when needed. However I try not to miss a day of cardio because as Michael Phelps said, Every day missed takes two days to make up for it.
