Makenna Hunt

My best years as an athlete are yet to come. At 17, I am a dedicated teammate, tenacious on the field and open to accepting new challenges. I can’t imagine my life without soccer and being part of team sports. I have always been involved with sports including soccer, volleyball and surfing. I will continue to pursue my passion to play soccer in college through perseverance and by raising my game to the highest level possible.

To be part of team leadership you have to demonstrate a “never give up” attitude. Leadership on the field comes from actions and I lead by example. Whether we are winning or loosing I always play to win and never give up on myself or my team.
I worked as a Surf instructor during the summer and was a lead counselor. It was important to teach the kids to respect the environment. I kept watch over them while they were in the ocean as well as provided surfing instruction and implemented water safety protocols at all times.

As a student athlete my performance in the field is a reflection of what I do off the field. Healthy eating habits, working out with weights and continuing to train with a technical soccer coach are some of the ways I keep fit. I also think it is important to balance school, soccer and friends. Surfing is also a way for me to connect with nature, get a serious workout while having fun.

I am a member of Girl Scouts of America and have been doing community service projects since the age of 5. I am an active member of “circle of friends” dedicated to working with special needs students at my high school. I volunteer at the local Salvation Army Community Center during the summer as a counselor working with children and I have also organized and participated in school events related to environmental science and sustainability as well as media manager and a participating member of our school Surfing Club.
