Hello,
My name is Kondwani Mtawali. I'm 18 years old from Lilongwe, Malawi and I'm currently in my first year at Brightpoint Community College in Richmond, VA. Brightpoint doesn't have an intercollegiate team and I'm eager to transfer to a school with a soccer team because I love soccer and I believe I have the abilities to impress. All the footage currently on my page was shot on my iPhone, hence the quality being poor.

I play as a Central Defensive Midfielder but I've also played as a Centre Back and a Central Midfielder. My strengths include winning one vs ones against attackers, finding forward passes, playing long balls, dribbling forward, and winning back possession in the midfield. I'm open and eager to joining a team at any level and getting some minutes on the pitch.

My email: kmtawali8@gmail.com

Kind Regards,
Kondwani Mtawali.

Personal Highlights

Hello,
My name is Kondwani Mtawali; I'm 17 years old from Lilongwe, Malawi. I will be starting my senior year of high school this August and for college I desperately want to play soccer. I consider myself to be an all-round player as I play in multiple positions for separate teams I play on and in matches I feature in; however playing as a centre back and central-defensive midfielder is where I feel the most comfortable.

I have been captain of my high school team since I was in 9th grade and consistently held my position in the starting eleven throughout the years. I currently have a cumulative GPA of 3.87 and my SAT score(first attempt) was an 1180. My strengths on the pitch include being able to keep the ball well, finding advancing passes, winning 1v1s against attackers, and being able to dribble past opposing players.

My dream is to become a professional soccer player and I feel as though coming to America and developing there would get me closer to my dream. I'm looking into studying a business related degree as a major in college/university.

I have a small amount of video recording due to the COVID 19 pandemic; but below I have attached the little footage that I have. Over the course of the next year I look forward to uploading more footage of me playing for a better representation for the player I am.

Sincerely,
Kondwani

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I want to be recruited because playing soccer is what I want to do for a living. I want to make this sport my life and it's always been my dream to become a professional player and play on the big stage. I truly believe I have what it takes to compete with varsity teams and eventually go on to become a professional.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

When it comes to being a leader on the pitch, I've been captain of the high school soccer team since I was in 9th grade. When it comes to being a leader off the pitch; I was president of the fitness club in 10th grade and over the last two semesters I was vice president of a charity club that I took part in.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I watch what I eat a lot. I pay attention to the amount of carbs to protein ratio; I make sure to always have a lot of protein for muscle sustainability. I do my best to stay away from junk food and most snacks that hinder my performance. I make sure I lift weights, run, and do sprints in order to keep me in shape and increase the quality of my performance.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Over the last two semesters of school I've been the vice president of a charity club that goes by the name "Chikondi Chilimanja." The goal of this club is to donate, spread useful information, and show love to people in the community. I joined this club and decided to become vice president because I want to help people living in poverty in Malawi. I believe we earn what we own; as somebody who lives a rather comfortable life, I have a responsibility to help those who don't.
