Playing sports in college is the best way for a student to be socially and athletically involved in their school. I think that being apart of a team can help an athlete adapt to a new school especially if they’re far away from home, and have a group of people they can rely on. My greatest wish is to have a group of teammates that I can learn and grow from.
“Healthy athletic performance” is health and wellness in all aspects of the body and mind. To be a truly heathy athlete you have to have mental and physical health. Especially in rowing, things like erg times, can make you nervous or stress you out. I always try to take things step by step, because each step will lead me further to my goals little by little, instead of being overwhelmed. That outlook has helped me so much to control the stress of races and times erg pieces. Student-athletes must also know about proper nutrition, sleep habits, and hydration for proper performance, by talking with my coaches and different teachers, I’ve learned how to nourish my body to do the best it can everyday.
