Personal Highlights

Multi-sport athlete who also plays volleyball, but loves music, animals, and the outdoors.

Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I have played volleyball since second grade and started weightlifting as a part of the workouts. My strength coach strongly suggested that I start throwing my sophomore year, and I fell in love with the sport. Discus and shot put both fascinated me not only because of the mechanics, but the strength and finesse that plays into it. I want to throw in college to continue to compete in the sport I love, meet new people, and make myself a better athlete/person.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

This year, my junior year, I was the oldest thrower because we had no senior throwers. Before each meet I would pump up the underclassmen with encouraging words and asked them to make goals for themselves like I do. Off the field, at the jobs I have had, others would come to me for help or assistance with what they were working on and I would happily attend. When I noticed the people I was working with had things that needed to be done, I would lead by example and start working on the task to encourage them to work with me.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I maintain a healthy athletic performance by keeping a daily routine of the things I need to do to stay in shape and/or stay healthy. I also eat properly, weightlift, work on throwing technique in my free time, stay on track with schoolwork, and also give myself time to rest too.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.
