Additional Questions:
Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?
-
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I have demonstrated my leadership on and off the water by leading conversions with my team about privilege and race. Often in rowing privilege is overlooked, and I wanted to bring awareness to this because being a person of color in a sport that is predominately one race can be extremely alienating. I want others who are people of color to learn and know more about rowing because it is not accessible to all. On the water I often am put in stroke seat, this role as stroke seat makes me accountable for leading the boat and setting a rhythm that works well with the boat. In the boat I as well communicate, I speak up explaining something that we as a boat can work on and give ideas of how we can improve.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.
